This is an ancient land – the Silk Road passes through here. The ancient Great Wall presents a majestic site, along with ancient temples and pagodas, the magnificent Wengcheng of Xiamaguan and the picturesque Luoshan Nature Reserve. This is a red land, where much of Edgar Snow’s Red Star Over China was written and the first county-level autonomous government of the Communist Party of China was established. Cattle, Tan sheep, cool-weather vegetables and facility agriculture have propelled Tongxin county onto the path of agricultural transformation, with a focus on quality and brand recognition.

This is a region rich in energy resources. Companies like Yingli and Sineng are expanding, while high-precision projects such as Dehui's heterojunction photovoltaic cells, Hongdao's POE film and Fengteng's new energy intelligent equipment manufacturing have blazed a trail. Together, the photovoltaic, energy storage and power battery industries form clusters that are worth ten billions.

Mineral resources are also abundant, with coal reserves reaching 2 billion tons and coalbed methane reserves totaling 58 billion cubic meters. The modern chemical industry, represented by Yinshan Energy, Zhonghe Reyan, and Tongde Aixin, is thriving.

This is the largest gathering and processing center for cashmere in the country, with enterprises such as Yixing and Xiangfu constantly reinventing themselves and upgrading.

Today's Tongxin has a close focus on its 21 major industries and is striving to be among the top 100 counties in the west of China, vigorously cultivating five industrial clusters - photovoltaics; energy storage and power batteries; new materials; equipment manufacturing; and the modern chemical industry - with a value of 10 billion yuan ($1.4 billion). The county is committed to building an important clean energy equipment manufacturing base and a green organic food supply chain.
