China's Ningxia WoZhiYuan Technology Co Ltd and Saudi Arabia's Gulf Dragon Trading Holding Company signed a cooperation agreement in Yinchuan, capital of the Ningxia Hui autonomous region, on Aug 6, aiming to develop energy-efficient and low-cost agriculture in the Arab country.

Through this cooperation, Ningxia WoZhiYuan Technology is expected to provide a set of 10 technologies, including those for rapid soil improvement, intelligent control of wind-solar complementary systems, construction of special photovoltaic agricultural facilities, and processing of composite drip irrigation products, to support Saudi Arabia in developing green, energy-efficient, low-cost and high-quality agriculture.

In recent years, Ningxia, a region featuring a dry and water-scarce environment, has been committed to water-conservation technological innovation. In fields such as photovoltaic technology, smart agriculture, and water-saving irrigation, Ningxia has established a relatively complete key technology system, developed products, overcome technological bottlenecks in water-saving agriculture in arid areas, and accumulated valuable experience for the development of resource recycling industries in arid regions. Facing similar arid conditions, Saudi Arabia is in urgent need of such technologies.

"Saudi Arabia has vast deserts and scarce rainfall, especially facing high temperatures and droughts in the summer, which greatly restrict crop cultivation. Our technology can help the country develop a high-temperature-resistant and water-saving industry to maximize agricultural output," said Sun Zhaojun, chairman of Ningxia WoZhiYuan Technology.

The project plans to establish a "China-Saudi Arabia Photovoltaic Smart Agriculture Water-saving Technology Park" covering thousands of mu of land and a 100-mu "China-Saudi Smart Constant Temperature Water-saving Photovoltaic Cabin" over a period of 5 years, with an expected output value of $1.06 billion.
